MY THERAPY APPROACH

I see psychotherapy as a creative collaboration that brings change through a respectful curiosity and engagement of one's concerns. A better appreciation and facilitation of one's unique talents and strengths is always essential to this process. In the course of our work, careful attention is paid to addressing the underlying sources of anxiety and conflict that can keep problem patterns from changing.

My clinical orientation is primarily psychodynamic but within this framework I integrate cognitive-behavioral and other treatment modalities as warranted by the goals. While my work centers primarily upon adult individuals, I have extensive experience working with couples and will occasionally work with older adolescents who have begun the process of deeper self-reflection. My work is informed by research interests in the proven effectiveness of various treatment modalities and the development of personality and identity.
